ZANE Business ProjectsZANE helps to people in the density areas around Zimbabwe's major cities to start their own businesses. In this way ZANE is enabling communities to become self-sufficient and is helping to re-build Zimbabwe society. Examples of ZANE Business Projects Updated October 2009. Names have been changed for security reasons.
-We started 2 new tuck-shop projects in Community A with a lady called Constance and a young woman named Belinda. Constance was referred by the
nursing team after frequently attending their clinic and bible study. She is
married with two children, one of whom was not attending school because
she could not afford to pay his school fees. Her husband is unemployed
and she is disabled following the amputation of one of her legs after an
injury. She has done extremely well with her project so far, having already
restocked twice since she started on the 20th of the month. Her son,
mentioned above, is assisting her with the bookkeeping.
Ongoing business project: - God’s Way Cooperative has received a large order from a local clinic for batik wall hangings and table cloths. This will keep them busy for a while, but it is imperative that they actively start looking for lucrative and sustainable markets themselves lest the dependency cycle we are trying so hard to eradicate be perpetuated - Two men from the ‘Men of Vision’ group in Community B who wanted to start business projects have finally started their carpentry project. Their plan is to make coffins, doors and furniture. We are excited by this project as we believe that if HIV positive men can make a success of their business and improve the living conditions of their family, it will cause other men in the community to sit up and take notice. We hope that men like this can have a powerful impact in their communities as their dignity is restored by working and therefore reducing the donor dependency and matriarchal dominance that currently prevails in the Community B society. - Rosalyn started a tuck-shop this month with assistance from a donation. A ZANE staff member has been assisting her with a business plan and she seems to be off to a good start. She has built a small structure adjoining her home where she stores and sells her merchandise from, and has seemed to have grasped the important concepts of re-stocking and accounting. Even more pleasing is how her countenance and attitude to life have changed as a result of having her own means of income; she is now always singing praises to God. To ensure that this strategic work continues, please donate today. |

Please will you help us? Any contribution, however modest,
will make a difference. ZANE has a first class team on the ground across Zimbabwe. ZANE has systems in place that ensure that every pound donated, is used to its maximum advantage. The money will be prudently used and will go towards the relief of hardship and acute misery. |
The cost of care. . .
ZANE has no offices and employs only a small staff in the UK. There are no middlemen and there is no waste.
